Average Negative is a Berlin based, cross platform label, run by Chris Hill and Jian Liew: an ongoing series of multidisciplinary art projects released in unique and varied forms. We curate and present original music, visual art, films, photography, and design.
Integration and collaboration are key to the identity and output of Average Negative. By enlisting the talents of multiple artists for each release and by ensuring that each release is presented across different mediums, Average Negative seeks to influence the way that the art we release will be consumed. The components of every release are intended to form one cohesive body of work, inseparable from one another thematically and aesthetically. By ensuring that releases are a sole entity, thematically driven and conceptually cohesive, Average Negative will advocate the oneness of art regardless of form. Average Negative will encourage a celebration and valuing the concepts behind original art creation. The projects that our visual artists paint, draw, build or film are a physical representation of music - likewise, musicians compose images, colors and textures into passages of music. Average Negative will facilitate this connectedness in every single release across its catalogue. Packaged with a focus on design aesthetic and durability, each release will be an immersive, captivating physical and digital experience.
